CDNM Systems Pharmacology Consortium
What is Systems Pharmacology?
Systems pharmacology is an emerging field that leverages systems biology approaches to understand drug therapies and adverse events.
Genetically-driven drug development is associated with a two-fold increase in success of phase II and III clinical trials. In addition, only 10% of novel drug candidates are ever approved, whereas 30% of repurposed drugs achieve approval. Thus, we leverage the abundance of genetic and Omic data in our cohorts to understand how to use drugs (existing and novel) to target biological processes leading to pathology within individuals. To accomplish this task, we have collected diverse expertise within the CDNM and collaborators across the world to form the CDNM Systems Pharmacology Consortium.
The annual Systems Pharmacology Symposium is upcoming on July 23rd, 2025 from 8 AM to 1 PM
We have a unique structure that facilitates innovation and collaboration across disciplines.
Goal: Facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration to solve clinical problems using systems pharmacology and drug repurposing
Core principles:
- Diverse expertise
- Predominantly people who analyze their own data
- Pairing of clinical scientist and methodologist
- Longitudinal updates on projects
- Write papers and grants as a group
